With my daughter, SongHee of grade 10, we went to the land of hot weather, 35 degrees, from Seoul of minus 10 degrees. Tears fell down when I remembered our life after Korean War in 1950. Cambodia was similar to those days of Korea in 1950s. We were so poor in those days, now we see Cambodia is suffering in poverty. I appreciated the blood of missionaries to Korea. Modern Korean mission & development to the world is the result of their sacrifices. When we visited the Royal Palace and Temple, I felt much burden. We Koreans also had served many idols , burned incense and prayed to them during long history. But we gave up them and believed Jesus Christ when western missionaries preached Gospel. In that way all the poverty and evil practice disappeared. I really prayed in my heart that Cambodia would follow Korean way to be blessed.
We visited a local church and prayed for a sick person who is suffering from tuberculosis. After prayer our team leader, Mrs. Kim HeungHwan, told him that he should give tithe to the Lord. I was surprised how this poor & sick man can give tithe to God. But it was not her teaching but our Lord taught us to do. However poor or sick he is, when he followed God's commanders, blessings will follow. This is the principle of the Bible. Through this incident, I also learned precious lesson. Our team leader, Kim HeungHwan, is in her middle of 70's now but she organized previously many mission trips to Africa. She learned English from her 60 years old for mission trip. She also dedicated herself, from her 20's, to the evangelism for factory lady workers for two decades. She was like a army captain, very strict and brave. We had worship 5 times a day during mission trip from early morning until late evening.
Rev. Kim Chan Myong, 89 years old, preached powerfully like Joshua and Caleb. I pray that our God would help Gospel Mission for more works, until the end.
