Testimony of Narit Phan Jesse

 

God plans my path 

Naomi & I have been married for 19 years and we are blessed with two sons, and a daughter. My wife and I were born in strong Buddhist families. She has four siblings, and I have nine siblings. My father had three jobs, and my mother had two jobs. They worked hard to feed us and help us to survive, but without any dreams of education for us children.

When I managed to make it through high school that was a big success for my parents.  I graduated from high school 1995 and started looking for a job, but I was not hired because I was not able to speak English. One day, I decided to attend private English class where I met a friend of mine who was a Bible student.  He invited me to study English in the Kompongsome Bible school for free with foreign teachers. That was a big offer, so I went with him. In the Bible school, I was asked to join the worship service and Evangelism team every Saturday and Sunday which I was not interested, but I could not refuse for being afraid of not allowing to study English with foreign teachers for free. I did whatever they asked of me to keep learning English. 

My ulterior motive was to study English and look for job and made money, but God has a bigger plan for me. He called me through my involvement with church activities.  I was convicted that I am a sinner.  I cannot save myself, and only God can. By His grace, I accepted Him as my personal Savior and Lord after 6 months in a Christian school trying to learn English for free.  I registered as a full-time bible student and study for three years where I met my wife. Since then, we have served the Lord together for 18 years.  

Currently, Naomi and I are privileged to serve children and their families, build strong a relationship to help them flourish physically, intellectually, and spiritually by directing them to realize their God-given potentials. We also have the opportunity to build each child’s confidence by following Jesus’ example of love leading to growth and learning, and strengthen parental relationships by offering parenting skills, which including how to protect their child from exploitations, children’s health and well-being, and nurturing their intellectual development by instilling Godly values on learning and serving.
 
I am thankful to the Lord for calling me and redirecting my path in the Bible school through the gospel. Naomi and I are blessed to witness godly impact on children and parents’ lives through our service to Him.
