Kompongsom Christian School (KCS) is a school that provides general knowledge to
students, not only that, the school also provides spiritual knowledge of the gospel of Jesus. This
school was started year 2007, after teacher BUT TUNG AN acting principal of the school was
graduated and received his diploma degree of Theology from Kompongsom Bible School on
April 5, 2007 and also the first pastor of Children Ministry in this Christian school.
At first, the school was small and did not have a clear curriculum. Our school is a nonformal
education program with a total of 25 to 30 students at that time. They are from the area of
Spean Chhes (Ottres) in Sihanoukville. The students are destitute, poor, helpless, without
parental encouragement to get an education, and without proper housing after the villagers are
evicted and their homes belonging set on fire after they stayed on other private land many years
ago, on April 20, 2007 they were expelled and chased out from that area. (Please also note that
before the Kompongsom Christian School started operating, the director of the Kompongsom
Bible School (KBS) always helped the people there who were in difficult times, such as rice,
noodles, fish cans and other food items ...). We then changed our goal to help children by
providing education. At that time, the school started operating by bringing students in a small
truck which I was both a driver and a teacher. I always remember when students got on a 1.5 ton
truck that could carry up 30 to 40 people or more. We see that every year the number of students
gradually increases from different locations in the city and with the supporting of Director Rev.
Moses Hahn, as well as the humanitarian activities of other missionaries abroad.
Our school provides free education to all students with general knowledge, English, Bible story… and also
offers lunch, school uniforms, bags, pens, pencils and other study materials. More importantly,
the school provided free student transportation at that time. Until 2011, the number of students
has increased; the school has expanded other plans, including the curriculum and is recognized
by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. By the requesting and in response to the
parents' request for the students after graduate from this school can continue their education in
public schools (high schools) and be recognized by the Department of Education, as well as the
need for special education, especially children in Poor families will contribute to poverty
reduction in the development of education in line with the development of the world as well as
in the region and provide opportunities for everyone to learn for the development of human
resources. Kompongsom Christian School has planned and built a building to get to a standard,
especially to provide comfortable place to the students who study there. In addition, in order to
provide quality education, recently the school has selected national and international curriculum,
as well as recruited teachers with good ethics and professional teachers in order to transfer
knowledge to students more effectively and giving a spiritual method of God’s word to all kids
for their future life (Prov 22 : 6). The school has now changed its policy, requiring students to
pay some money to cover expenses.
Nowadays, Kompongsom Christian School (KCS) has a total of 123 primary school
students, including 60 girls and 42 kindergarten students, including 15 girls, and a total of 19
staff, 7 girls, on February 2021, which is divided into two parts:
1. There are 6 classes of national curriculum primary schools:
A. Grade 1 has 1 class: 24 students in total, 15 females
B. Grade 2 has 1 class: 17 students in total, 06 females
C. Grade 3 has 1 class: 20 students in total, 12 females
D. Grade 4 has 1 class: 13 students in total, 05 females
E. Grade 5 has 1 class: 10 students in total, 05 females
F. Grade 6 has 1 class: 7 students in total, 3 females
2. International Kindergarten & Primary School
A. Mixed Kindergarten Class has 1 class: 18 students in total, 05 females
B. Advanced Kindergarten 1 class: 24 students in total, 10 females
C. Primary 1 has 1 class: 6 students in total, 3 females (some students study full time)
D. Primary 2 has 1 class: 13 students in total, 05 females
E. Primary 5 has 1 class: 13 students in total, 06 females
*Note: Total 165 students and 75 females included (excluding part-time students). Number of students
there seems to be a drop compared to previous years, which the number of students was about
189, due to displacement, house rental fee increase, students transfer out and a lot of Chinese
people come in Sihanoukville.
May God bless you all !
