Testimony of Pengkhorn

My name is Pengkhorn Sem. I was born in a Buddhist family in Kampongcham province. I have eight siblings.

Before I became a Christian, my life was not much different from other boys in the village. I like doing what I wanted to do. I did not listen to my parents much, of course I did but not all
the times. I missed the school when I wanted and spent time outside enjoyed with my friends. Many
times I disobeyed my parents and didn’t do what I was told to do. My life was wondering no purpose
with my study and the future.

I am a first believer in Jesus Christ in my family. My parents are not Christians, neither are
my siblings except my older brother, he is a believer when I shared the Gospel to him.
I became a Christian in 1999 when I moved to Siemreap province to live with my uncle. He
shared the Gospel and taught me about Jesus Christ so I grew in the Lord through him and by God’s
grace. I went to Bible training center called Kampochea for Christ International in Phnom Penh in 2002.
After my accomplishment for one-year course, in 2003 I went to Kompongsom Bible school to see Rev.
Moses Hanh to ask him to study the Bible there. He allowed me to study the Bible there without paying
the school fee and I had been given three times of meal per day. I was thankful and grateful to him for
his kindness and help and love for me. During my time at the Bible school (KBS) I had learned many
things in my life. I had learned the Bible, how to do mission, how to serve God and the people and
how to live a life without parents. I was struggling with hardship and support. I did not have support
from the church or from family financially. I had learned how to be independent. I had learned the
cultures from different countries, and I had learned how to work with people who had different work
cultures, and so on. I graduated from KBS in 2006, then I continue to serve the Lord until now.
My life has been improving in many areas by God’s grace. And also by my teacher Rev. Moses
Hanh’s teaching and guidance during my time in the Bible school. I would say that God is so good.
I also went to Universities after I left Bible school. During my ministry, I also took time to
further study. I graduated my bachelor degree in English from University of Economics and
Management(UME) in 2011, master degree in law from university of Cambodian for Specialties (CUS)
in 2015. And master degree in Development Management from Norton University (NU) in 2018. And
also certificate of basic community transformation from Asian School of Development and Cross
Cultural Studies (ASDECS) from Philippine based in Phnom Penh.

I have been doing ministries for the Lord in different areas with my life since I left Bible school
by His grace and guidance, and at the present, I am working in a Christian organization called
Redeeming Rain Organization. We serve the Lord in different areas in this organization such as;
teaching the Bible, English, computer and music to the people in the community and the university
students from different provinces in Cambodia. We are also serving the Lord with saving program, we
teach people how to save the money.
I got married in 2009 with my wife Thida Son, we have two boys. One is 11 years old and
another one is five years old.
